Baltimore Quilt pattern
Materials required
Sewing machine, Quilting Foot, Free-motion Foot
Scissors, for fabric and for paper Pencils , Ruler, fabric marking pen
Pins straight and safety pins
Needles new for machine , and hand sewing
Fabrics 100%cotton quilting fabric
For block background choose a plain or lightly printed background for your centre motif to stand out or ‘pop’. White or cream based, or a pale colour Buy 3.5 meters
For sashing & Binding choose small prints or solid extra of one of your appliqué colours Buy 1meter
For applique pieces for flowers and Buds choose 2 colours , then 2 shades of each colour so you will have a mixture of 4 prints to mix and match smaller prints or plain are best for the smaller shapes like buds and flower accents, a busier or fuller print is more suitable for the larger flowers pieces.
Large flowers
Buy .5 meters of each colour (1 meter in total)
Small flowers & Buds Buy .25 meters of each ( .5 meter in total)
Stems & Leaves choose a complimenting colour with a small or indistinct print as any print will be lost as the pieces are small and narrow. Buy 1 meter
Thread machine quilting 100% cotton to coordinate, blend or contrast your with chosen colours 500mtrs leaves and stems 300mtrs for each colour, (600 total) *1000mtrs to match your background blocks for quilting and bobbins to match backing fabric +spare colour for basting
